Yoga is the science of bringing harmony to body, mind and soul. Its origins are found in India and throughout the ancinet world. Its techniques of postures, meditation, service, devotion and wisdom have been incorporated into spiritual practices around the world.
The word yoga means “to unite” and refers to both the goal, and the practices that lead us towards it. The goal of yoga is Self Realisation, knowing our true divine nature. The advanced yogis feels in their lives a sense of oneness, harmony, peace, love and joy.
There are many different types of yoga practiced in the world. The most popular form of yoga in the West is hatha yoga – whose emphasis is upon postures (asana). Other forms of yoga include bhakti – devotional practices, karma – the path of service and living in the moment, raja – meditation techniques, and jnana – wisdom and philosophy.
