What is World Healing Project?

World Healing Project (WHP) promotes well being initiatives for people and the planet to help bring about health and happiness. It was founded by Giles Bryant in 2007. We provide a service of teaching simple well being tools such as yoga, meditation, healing music, building peace circles and healthy nutrition. WHP now works with many indivduals and organisations around the world.As well as running classes and training we work in schools, hospitals, and special needs centres as well a putting on festivals, conferences, St George's Day celebrations, concerts, conscious clubbing nights and helping to raise awareness of things like our ancient heritage, the perpetual choirs, the healing power of music and wellbeing in schools . WHP has 5 major initiatives:YOGAWe promote the benefits of yoga practice through our resources, classes, workshops, retreats and talks. After many years of study, we have designed a sequence of well being exercises that are simple, accessible to all and highly effective. Spending a few minutes practicing these every day can yield wonderful results to bring healing to body, mind and soul. MEDITATIONThrough meditation we gain a greater awareness of our true potential and are able to tap into our inner resources of peace, success, love and harmony. We have produced a series of meditation CDs for adults and children, and run courses on meditation and relaxation techniques. HEALING MUSICSound is a powerful tool that can be used to heal, relax, uplift and connect people. Through our music, workshops, concerts and evnts we promote some of the finest healing musicians and sound therapists. PEACE CIRCLESWe specialise in designing and building sacred spaces and peace circles which can be created anywhere. These enhance a sense of well being and promote a deeper connection to our environment, whether this is our home, school or work place. We have built peace circles at some incrdible events in the UK such as the The Yoga Show and Out of the Ordinary Festival. NUTRITIONThe food we consume profoundly affects our well being and also has a major impact upon the planet. Through our events, high vibrational food workshops and our community land projects we are showing the benefits of organic, sustainable, nutritious and delicious food. EVENTSWHP have been involved in helping to organise some of the UK’s most pioneering and innovative events. Each year we build a peace circle an performing live music and the opening and closing ceremonies at The Yoga Show, in London. We have been part of pioneering conscious clubbing nights in and around London, such as Heartwave and One Love. We work with the coolest and most-high vibrational festivals in England such as OOTO, Big Green Gathering, Festival of Life, Sunrise and WHP Gathering. We also helped launch the world’s biggest ever dance party, Heartwave, which is running for 1746 days. We have organised concerts with some of the leading healing musicians in the world, such as Craig Pruess, ATMA and Vijay Jagtap.

About Giles Bryant

Giles Bryant is the founder and owner of World Healing Project. In 1994 he left behind a career in law to develop his practice and study of yoga, psychology, philosophy, environmental conservation, healing and music. He joins this knowledge with an inspirational presentation style to deliver techniques that address peoples universal needs – how to be happy and healthy. Giles has taught over 5000 yoga and wellbeing sessions in a wide variety of settings including schools, hospitals, universities, yoga centres, nightclubs and the corporate and private sector.His yoga and healing background is based upon 17 years of dedicated training and practise including study at ashrams in India, USA and Europe. He has completed the 3.5 year lessons course of Self-Realization Fellowship and is a Kriya Yogi. Giles has also trained in several forms of complementary healing and martial arts which he incorporates into his practice. Following the inspiration of the planetary healing work of two of his teachers, Paramahansa Yogananda and Colin Bloy, Giles founded the World Healing Project to give individuals tools that can help to heal themselves and the world. Giles has given many talks, workshops and led ceremonies and concerts at international events such as The Yoga Show, Mind Body Soul Festival, Big Green Gathering, Fountain International Conference and Festival of Life. His work has featured on television, radio and in magazine and newspaper articles. In addition to yoga and wellbeing he gives talks on sacred sites, earth healing, creating sacred space and nutrition.He performs music with his supporting band Turiya. They have made several CDs and performed hundreds of concerts.Giles continues to learn more every day, and to try to live up to the saying: Feel Love, Give Love, Be Love.

Yoga is the science of bringing harmony to body, mind and soul. Its origins go back to ancient India, though its techniques of postures, meditation, service, devotion and wisdom have been incorporated into spiritual practices around the world. The word yoga means “to unite” and refers to both the goal, and the practices that lead us towards it. The goal of yoga is Self Realisation, knowing our true divine nature. The advanced yogis feels in their lives a sense of oneness, harmony, peace, love and joy. There are many different types of yoga practiced in the world. The most popular form of yoga in the West is hatha yoga – whose emphasis is upon postures (asana). Other forms of yoga include bhakti – devotional practices, karma – the path of service and living in the moment, raja – meditation techniques, and jnana – wisdom and philosophy.

Wellbeing Exercises

A major contribution in the field of body-mind health is the sequence of well being exercises designed by yoga teacher and World Healing Project founder, Giles Bryant.Giles used his knowledge of yoga and healing, gained through 17 years of intensive world-wide study to put together a series of simple, accessible and highly effective exercises. These exercises take about 5 minutes and when practiced every day have been found to bring about phenomenal results in peoples health and happiness. The exercises should be practiced gently, with relaxed breathing and awareness with every movement. The benefits of yoga practice in schools is gaining widespread recognition.When effectively implemented, yoga practice has been shown to have positive effects upon wellbeing and enhanced learning in children. (See for example, Clinical Applications of Yoga for the Pediatric Population: A Systematic Review – Harvard 2009). WHP place yoga as the centre of our Wellbeing In Schools Initiative. Our empasis is upon our sequence of Wellbeing Exercieses. These can be seen in our video section, and also our available in our forthcoming DVD, "Wellbeing In Schools, Classroom Techniques". The benefits of physical exercise for children are now well-recognised and we believe that the most effective way of introducing a routine of physical exercise is by making it a simple part of the structure of daily life. Consistent regular practice, at the same time each day, can have a far greater and longer-lasting impact than infrequent and sporadic bursts of activity, as this becomes the foundation for building a positive healthy lifestyle .The exericese are simple, accessible to all and highly effective. Ecstatic Yoga was born from a fusion of Giles 17 years of yoga practice and study of music. In teaching over 5000 classes he saw how powerful music and yoga can be, and has spent the last 4 years working with some of the leading spiritual musicians in the world to create a soundtrack to his original yoga and healing techniques.Ecstatic Yoga sessions have been brilliantly received at major events like The Yoga Show, Mind Body Soul, Festival Of Life and Out of the Ordinary - with classes of hundreds of people having an amazing time. Sessions are also regularly run at special needs centres, schools, yoga studios and for the elderly. This is something for everyone.Ecstatic Yoga is only half the story of the evening. Sound has a profound effect upon us all. Music can be used to heal as well as entertain us. We use musical terms to describe how we are feeling - being “in tune” or “back on song”. We talk about “sound investments and being in harmony”.Sound is a form of energy, just like electricity and light. Sound is made when air molecules vibrate and move in a pattern called waves. So essentially sound is a form of vibration, and music is sound. People have used sound and music as a tool to effect how people feel going back from the present day to the depths of the pre-historic shamanic traditions. How people use sound to effect people throughout the world follows three common principles: The first is of conscious thought or intention. The second is the actual sound which is a carrier wave of consciousness. This sound wave is then registered in the brain and physical body of the receiving person. Sound has been used to heal through carrying an intention of harmony, love and healing through the voice or use of an instrument such as drum, rattle, flute, or stringed instrument. Intention and Sound bring about the manifestation of healing.

“Jai Ganga Mahadeva” is a piece of music that points to a new emerging genre. Its deeply spiritual essence is captured by a wide-screen production sound similar in impact to the best of rock or pop music. It is both rhythmic yet mystical, deep yet accessible, calm yet uplifting. A focused fusion of styles, which merges the best of East and West, “Jai Ganga Mahadeva” was written by Giles Bryant and Turiya, produced, arranged and recorded by Craig Pruess at the Heaven on Earth Music Studios.The song was originally composed on the banks of the river Ganges in Rishikesh, India — an ancient place of pilgrimage and the “world capital of yoga”. Giles was there during Christmas 2009 filming a series of well-being exercises and playing music, in a spot that inspired the Beatles 40 years earlier. Whilst there he spent many hours singing sacred chants to the river. He says:“It was beautiful to sit in a timeless place where people have meditated and chanted for thousands of years. With the backdrop of the mighty Himalayas and watching the sun set over the river, I felt a sense of profound love and unity. This song came to me as if as a gift from the Mother Ganges herself.”THE MAKING OF “JAI GANGA MAHADEVA”: —Giles and Craig have collaborated previously on a number of occasions, playing several live performances together. They had talked many times about recording a song based upon a fusion of their styles. The result was an explosion of bliss! Giles’ innovative songwriting style gives Turiya a perfect frame for their joyous three part harmonies, supported by driving acoustic guitars and Craig’s multi-instrumentation, arrangement and dynamic, rich production sound.The result is “Jai Ganga Mahadeva” — the first single from the forthcoming album “The Perpetual Choirs”. Giles Bryant & Turiya Biography

Giles Bryant has played with the band Turiya since 2002 performing original songs based upon spiritual music from around the world. Their music is joyful, healing and meditative. Giles and the band have released several albums and played hundreds of concerts in the UK as well as all around the world. Their music has been used in films, TV and radio, and by thousands of people in schools, hospitals, homes and therapeutic settings.The musical collective of Turiya (the word is Sanskrit and means ‘freedom, oneness, supreme consciousness’) is ever expanding. Giles sings lead vocals, and plays a variety of guitars, harmonica, harmonium and percussion. Turiya currently comprises of long-time band member and younger brother, Tom Bryant, whose intricate and innovative guitar playing blends with exquisite harmony vocals. The beautiful Juliette Woollard sings vocals and leading rhythm-therapist Graham Game sings and plays percussion. Other world music stars such as Craig Pruess (multi-instruments), Vijay Jagtap (sitar), Jonathan Hugh (cello), Johnny Cope (Didjeredoo) and Liam Didj (didjeredoo) sometimes play in the line-up. At concerts the big backing vocals are provided by extended members of the band, and often within minutes of a performance beginning, the audience joins in and becomes part of the Turiya experience.

Chanting is a very effective way to work with sacred sound. One may consider the sounds, tones or words to be the medicine - and the melody of the chant, the nectar that allows the medicine to be easily absorbed. World Healing Project have produced many recorded songs and sacred chants from traditions all around the world. Jai Ganga is one of them.Chanting provides a positive focus for the mind, changes brain-wave frequencies allowing deep relaxation and alertness and it helps lead the practisioner into states of meditation. The physical vibration of sacred sounds also benefit the body, energising organs, glands and all body parts.Chant with devotion, concentration and will power, and the sacred seeds of these chants will bring about beautiful flowers of realisation.

Perpetual Choirs

WHP are involved with a others to return an awareness of the Perpetual Choirs to the world. The Perperpetual Choirs are ancient circles of sacred sites where choirs are known to have sung perpetual chants at sites such as Glastonbury and Canterbury. Singing sacred sounds has been shown to have a powerful effect, especially at sacred sites often in buildings designed to resonate acoustics. Plato indicated the healing potential of using music when he said: “In the Golden Age man was governed not by law but by music.” Music is a universal language, a common link for us all.“When enough people realise the healing power and potential of music, and sing divine songs that resonate within their hearts and by joining together with loving intention, actual perpetual choirs — singing sacred songs 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year — will be established at key points around the globe. The Garden

We are working with our Partner Jonathan Barker to turn a former six acre arable plot of land near to Maldon in Essex into a sustainably run forest garden. Click here to see a short film about it.This project aims to:Promote environmental education, demonstrating sustainability in farming, woodland management and horticulture, as well as promoting healthy living initiatives and community interaction within Essex.To connect members of the local community with the natural environment, using an integrated approach to improve health and well being.Self Sufficiency and empowerment of us as individuals and the communityLocal food production, using organic, permaculture techniquesSo far we have:1) Planted a range of trees and shrubs including mixed broadleaf, fruit trees, medicinal plants and started on the hedging. Many of these have been grown from seed or transplanted locally.2) Created a central fire circle in the heart of the area.3) With ‘Talking Trees’ we have put in a ‘universal egg’ to enhance the fertility of the land based upon principals of Victor Shauberger.4) Planted comfrey bed to produce own fertilizer. 5) Put in a Victor Shauberger Universal Egg Device (right)6) Planted the wheel of the year and its relative trees around the fire circle.7) Created car and bike parking area (Friday 19th – all day work party including woodland and hedge planting)8) Hand digging a wildlife pond near the entrance 9) Dug a large pond in far western area10) Developing four element gardens around the central fire circle.11) Create basic straw bale shelter12) Put in naturalizing bulbs near car parking and fire circleHow you can get involved:Almost every Friday Jonathan Barker is on site. Inspiring Life - Juliette Bryant

Juliette has been working with the World Healing Project with Giles … for the last 3 years and has been an integral part of the Well Being In School Initiative. Juliette created Inspiringlife.co.uk and has been working in the holistic field for the past 12 years. She is Qualified in Reiki, Sekhem, Indian Head Massage, Nutrition and Baby Yoga. She also trained as a classical actress with the London Academy of Performing Arts and has done a extensive amount of corporate and commercial acting, As well as more recently running drama clases for under 5’s . Since having a child six years ago she has switched her focus onto healing for children and the promotion of natural baby and childcare by working with children using Meditation, Breathing, Drama, Yoga, and Sound Healing for the past five years and is passionate about empowering children with the tools to deal with all that life may bring to them. Through joint collaboration Giles and Juliette undertook to create the World Healing Project Meditation cd's which are being used in school and homes around the country. They are both very excited about all the future links between Inspiring Life and World Healing Project, both of which have the same underlying principle which is to empower people through Yoga, Meditation, Healing Music, Nutrition and Peace Circles. Juliette has also seen how important nutrition is for adults and children and runs seminars, workshops and one on one sessions to empower people on how to take control of their health through simple but fun things such as making raw chocolate. For the last year she has been running Raw Chocolate Workshops as a way of showing people how to use certain food to enhance their health and happiness, and this has lead her into the area of Seminars where she recently spoke at the Empowerment Live Conference in Cambridge on Medicinal Foods for the Mind. Through this Juliette has also created a range of well thought out products to support people from Superfood Mixes,Raw Chocolate Kits, Herbal Immunity Boosts, and many more. Craig is an American composer, musician and arranger well known in a number of different roles — as a gold and platinum record producer (Sir Cliff Richard, Anu Malik), as an arranger/orchestral conductor (Massive Attack, Def Leppard), session musician (Mike Oldfield, Joe Cocker, Manic Street Preachers), film composer (two number one UK box office feature films: “Bend It Like Beckham”, “Bride & Prejudice”) and a British Academy Award nomination in 2010 for his Best Original Music Score for the BBC-TV prime time series, “Moses Jones”, which featured African world fusion music and featured the Ganda Boys on screen.Craig has been a practicing yogi for over 40 years, and a teacher for the Art of Living Foundation for 18 years. He has been interested in creating music for affecting group consciousness since starting on the yoga/meditation path.
